UNDECIDED MAJORS

If you are undecided about a major, you are not alone.  Many students begin college not knowing exactly what they want to major in or what they should major in. Many more students change majors a few times before deciding on the one that best fits their career goals.  Undecided Major Program (UMP) Career Services at Troy University provides guidance for all students wishing to recognize individual career goals, as well as a special Undecided Major Program (UMP).  The UMP is designed to offer students a flexible, supportive environment where it is possible to explore career and academic options.  As a participant, students have the opportunity to:

  • Plan semester schedules with assistance from a Career Counselor advisor
  • Take a Career Exploration & Planning course (CHD 1100), a 1-hour elective credit
  • Attend workshops sponsored by Career Services
  • Meet with a Career Counselor for Individual Career Counseling Sessions , during which students take personality and skills assessments

The UMP program is designed to assist students for a maximum period of four semesters.  However, participants may declare a major at any time.  All students in the UMP are required to declare a major before the fourth term of enrollment.
