Adjunct Instructor in Art/Design

 

 

Position Title: Adjunct Instructor (Semester-by-Semester Contract)

 

 

Position Description:

 

Department of Art and Design is constantly seeking qualified candidates to instruct various courses in studio arts, art education and graphic design as well as art appreciation to the general student. An adjunct may teach one or more courses per term as negotiated between the instructor and the Department Chairman.

 

The lecturer would work on a contractual basis. No committee or advising assignments would be expected of this contracted instructor, however, the adjunct will still be held accountable to the department through evaluations of classroom instruction and pedagogy as well as university policies. 

 

Possible courses would be: Visual Arts (art appreciation); foundations courses; or history courses. Teaching assignments may be on-campus, off-campus, and/or via distance learning.

 

Qualifications:

 

            Required:

 

·         A minimum of Masters degree in art or design or other related field.

·         Ability to work with a team of studio professionals and educators in designing and developing effective, relevant and innovative curricula.

·         Effective teaching abilities

·         Ambitious and Energetic

 

Desirable:

 

·         An MFA degree or Ph.D. in related field.

·         At least 1-3 years or more of teaching experience in higher education

 

 

 

Salary:  Commensurate upon qualifications, discipline and demand.
