Last year, nearly 250 public arts educators, administrators and legislators converged on the campus of TROY to hold a much touted, three-day ALABAMA ARTS EDUCATION SUMMIT. The theme of the gathering was making essential links between public schools, higher education, communities and more as the significance of arts in education is recognized for the future of American success.
The event created so much energy and synergy that is now scheduled for the second year in a row at TROY. Dates of the event will be February 18–20, 2009. "Speaking With One Voice" is this year's theme. For registration, call (334) 269-1435 or e-mail aaae@bellsouth.net.
The Alabama Arts Education Summit is sponsored by the Alabama State Council on the Arts, the Alabama Arts Alliance for Arts Education, the Kennedy Center for the Arts, Alabama Arts Education Association and Troy University.
