On April 14, 2005, the Alabama State Board of Education voted to add Praxis II, a standardized content mastery examination, as a component of the Alabama Prospective Teacher Testing Program. The requirement is effective for persons who complete a program this semester and seek initial certification in any teaching field or area of instructional support.

Troy University requires that attaining a passing score on the Praxis II must be accomplished as a pre-condition for Intership.
