We welcome everyone---regardless of their major. Almost half of all exceptional children spend the majority of their school day in the regular classroom. General and special educators are now working together in inclusion classrooms in order to meet the needs of all students. |
| What is it?: |
With more than 50,000 members in the United States and Canada, the Council for Exceptional Children is the largest professional organization in Special Education. These members are committed to better understanding and meeting the needs of exceptional children, including both those who are gifted and those with disabilites (such as mental retardation, learning disabilities, or social/emotional disabilities). |
