Honors Convocation is Monday, April 21, 2008, Claudia Crosby Theater, 7:00 p.m.

Friday, February 27, 2008 – FINISH MEMBERSHIP SELECTION

Every honor society must have finished their membership selection process. The local mailing address of new members and the home addresses of their parent/spouses must have been collected during the selection process.

 

Thursday, March 6, 2008 – MEMBERSHIP/PARENT INFORMATION DUE

Three Items are due.

Item 1 and 2 – An excel spreadsheet of the names and addresses of your new members and their parents/spouses. These spreadsheets are provided here. It is most important to fill out the form exactly as given. This information is cut and pasted into a main database so that duplicates can be detected. These spreadsheets are used to mail invitations to students and parents. If your Honor Society is initiating members from off campus use your judgment as to whether or not to include those students on the mailing list. Most likely you would not.

Name your spreadsheets using the groups initials. Follow this example. The spreadsheet of Alpha Lambda Delta members would be named ald members. The spreadsheet of Alpha Lambda Delta parents/spouses would be named ald parents. Email to bpatters@troy.edu by Thursday, March 6.

Item 3 - An alphabetical list of your new members that will be printed in the Honors Convocation program. The list must be typed in Microsoft Word. The list must be first name first, then last name. For example “Jane Doe” not Doe, Jane. In the top right hand corner put the name of your honor society, the name of the individual announcing the members, with their e-mail and phone number. The list must be e-mailed to Bonnie Money in Creative Services, bmoney@troy.edu and insert committee member name, Chair of the Printed Program committee, Ed Pappanastos.

Friday, March 21, 2008 – Order Academic Regalia

You must wear academic regalia to Honors Convocation. If you do not own your own regalia you must have placed your order with the University Bookstore by March 16. You do not have to wear a cap.

 

Wednesday, April 2, 2008 – E-mail Teresa Moore about Rehearsal and Convocation

For planning purposes Teresa Moore must know whether or not you will be at Honors Convocation rehearsal and Honors Convocation Rehearsal. Please make every effort to be at Honors Convocation rehearsal. Please send her an e-mail confirming your attendance at both events. Her e-mail is tmoore@troy.edu.

 

Wednesday, April 16, 2008 – Honors Convocation Rehearsal, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Claudia Crosby Theater

If you are just announcing your honor society, you do not need to be in academic regalia. If you are also presenting an award you must wear/bring your academic regalia and the award you are presenting. Pictures will be taken for news releases. Be sure to tell your award recipient to dress appropriately for pictures.

 

Monday, April 21, 2008 – Honors Convocation

Honors Convocation, 7 pm. in Claudia Crosby theater. Academic regalia is required – no caps. At the time of your group’s initiation, please stress to your members to attend Honors Convocation, where they will be asked to stand and be recognized. You will be embarrassed if you recognize you group and no one stands to be recognized. Ask them to invite their parents to attend. Please be in the lobby by 6:30 p.m. for line up.
