Information and Deadlines for Honors Convocation Awards
Honors Convocation is Monday, April 21, 2008, Claudia Crosby Theater, 7:00 p.m.
Monday, February 25, 2008 - Forms for individual awards are due with a grade release.
Your department / honor society should have selected your award recipient by this date following the criteria of the individual award and the Rules and Procedures for Honors Convocation Awards.
Please go over the form with the student and have the student submit the correct information to you. It is most important that the address, email, and phone number of the student be provided by the student. DO NOT use information from the Datatel database. The name of the award must be written as it is to appear in the program. The student’s name must be spelled correctly as it is to appear in the program. Parent/spouse information must be provided. Turn in five copies of the form and one copy of the grade release to your college’s Honor Convocation Representative. This is ALL you have to turn in to the Honors Convocation Committee.

Tuesday, February 26, 2008 – The Honors Convocation Committee will meet to approve awards.
If there is a problem with your award you will be notified on Wednesday, Febnruary 27, 2008.
Wednesday, March 5 and Thursday, March 6 – Award recipient pictures will be taken for the Wall of Honor.
Inform your recipient that they must go to University photography to have their picture taken for the Wall of Honor. Pictures will be taken from 8:30 am to 11:30 am, and from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. No appointment is necessary. An academic robe will be provided for them to wear for the picture. If your student can’t have their picture taken during these time periods, call Kevin Glackmeyer at ext. 3236 to schedule an appointment. If your student absolutely can’t have their picture taken, please notify Barbara Patterson at bpatters@troy.edu.
Friday, March 21, 2008 – Order Academic Regalia
You must wear academic regalia to Honors Convocation. If you do not own your own regalia you must have placed your order with the University Bookstore by March 16.
Wednesday, April 2, 2008 – E-mail Teresa Moore about Rehearsal and Convocation
For planning purposes Teresa Moore must know whether or not you and your award recipient will be at Honors Convocation rehearsal and Honors Convocation. Please e-mail her confirming your attendance and your student's attendance at both events. Her e-mail is tmoore@troy.edu.
Wednesday, April 16, 2008 - Rehearsal for Honors Convocation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Crosby Theatre.
Make sure you have notified you award recipient to be present at this time. Remember that in your award presentation, you must give a description of the award and name the winner, not a description of the winner. You should be prepared to have your picture taken with the recipient for a hometown press release. Be sure to have your recipient dress appropriately for their picture and you should have your academic regalia and you should have with you the award that will be given.
Monday, April 21, 2008 - Honors Convocation will be held at 7:00 p.m. in Crosby Theatre.
Remember you must wear academic regalia (no cap). Please be there at 6:30 pm for line up in the lobby.
