International Student Clubs

With more than 200 student clubs on campus, international students have many opportunities to get involved. There are several student groups focused primarily on international students.

Trips and Events

Troy University has more than 700 international students from 50 countries. To ensure a successful experience, students are encouraged to take advantage of a variety of programs and activities that promote student learning and development.

Annual events organized by the Center for International Programs to showcase the international students include:

  • Parade of Flags (during pre-game of football game)
  • Top 10 Flag Recognition
  • International Education Week
  • International Cup Soccer Tournament
  • Rotary Appreciation Luncheon
The international clubs plan special events that include the International Festival, and the Chinese New Year Celebration.

Trips The Center organizes several trips each year around the country. These trips give students an opportunity to explore American culture and experience the local flavor of the region. Trips in the past have been organized to Disney World, New Orleans, Atlanta, Cheaha Park, the Florida beaches, Alabama recreational areas, special sporting events, and more.

Workshops and Seminars Workshops and seminars are planned throughout the year to help the students adjust to life in the United States. Past workshops include:
  • Driving (including how to buy a car)
  • Self Defense
  • Banking: How to Manage Your Money & Keep Your Money Safe
  • Stress Management
  • Cleaning Your Room
  • Health Issues
  • Time Management
  • The Job Search
  • Cooking
International Friends
The Center has several outreach programs to promote international understanding within Troy and the surrounding communities. We sponsor the International Friends Program that provides a bridge between Americans and international students to share their values and traditions. Students are given a chance to interact with normal activities of American families and friends.
