This course enables the student to gain supervised classroom experience for double the number of class hours from a regular academic course with the same credit value. It includes observation, tutoring, group work, homework correction, test writing, guided lesson planning, and controlled classroom teaching under the supervision of the ESL Director and other instructors. Through practice, reflection, and feedback, students develop their own guiding principles to TESOL. It culminates in the preparation of a formal, written project report in which the student formulates individual teaching objectives and preferred methods. This ESL teaching philosophy is supported through a combination of cited theoretical research in Applied Linguistics and personal conclusions based on the experience gained through the practicum.
