Physics/Physical Science Program

The Department of Mathematics and Physics offers two education majors, the comprehensive science education major and the physics education major.  The comprehensive science major is a combination of courses in biology, physics, chemistry, and earth and space sciences.   Graduates with of this program become certified to teach any secondary science course.  Graduates with the physics education major become certified to teach secondary physics courses. 

 The department also offers a pre-engineering program.  This is a two program that prepares students to transfer to another university offering a degree program in engineering.  more...

 

Mathematics

The Department of Mathe-matics and Physics offers three majors in mathematics, a non-teaching mathematics major, a comprehensive mathematics education major and, a mathematics education major.   These programs in mathematics emphasize attention to each student and feature small classes, quality instruction by a well-qualified faculty with diverse mathematical backgrounds, effective advising, a departmental Math Club, and free tutoring.  In addition, the Department has a computer lab equipped with the latest mathematics software including the computer algebra system Maple along with MATLAB and Geometer’s Sketchpad.
