The mathematics
comprehensive education major and the mathematics education major prepare
students to teach mathematics in the secondary schools and to receive a
teaching certificate from the Alabama State Department of Education.
Graduates with these majors are also prepared to continue in graduate-level
study. The graduate with a comprehensive education major completes
38 hours of mathematics and computer courses (listed below), 28 hours of
professional education courses, and 54 hours of General Studies, including
Calculus I. The mathematics education graduate completes 29 hours
of mathematics courses (listed below), 28 hours of professional education
courses, 27-30 hours in a second teaching field, and 52 hours of General
Studies, including Calculus I. |
