The teaching degrees at TSU with majors in comprehensive science education and physics education prepare students to teach in their chosen area of concentration and to receive a teaching certificate from the Alabama State Department of Education.  Graduates of these programs are also successfully prepared to continue in graduate-level study.  The science components of these programs emphasize attention to each student through effective advising, small classes, quality instruction, and free tutoring.   Lab courses taught in the new science laboratory building serve to supplement and enhance the concepts presented in lecture courses.

Graduates with the comprehensive science education major complete 50 hours of required science courses (listed below), 28 hours of professional education courses, and 52 hours of General Studies courses (including Biology I and Chemistry I and labs).
