Celebrating Undergraduate Mathematics TROY Math Fest · TROY Math Fest · TROY Math Fest · TROY Math Fest · TROY Math Fest · TROY Math Fest · TROY Math Fest · The TROY MathFest 2006 is a one-day primarily undergraduate mathematics conference to be held on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Troy University in beautiful Troy, Alabama. The purpose of the conference is to have a common mathematics forum for all students and faculty at colleges and universities. Faculty, undergraduate, and graduate students are all encouraged to give presentations. Presentations in all areas of mathematics, its applications, its history, and its education are welcome. We have some travel support available for up to 20 undergraduate presenters. The conference will consist of 20-minute contributed talks, a one-hour special lecture (TBA), a graduate school information booth, a calculus competition for undergraduates (with prizes awarded to first, second, and third place), with lunch and refreshments provided to all participants. REGISTRATION To register to attend and/or present at the TROY MathFest 2006, fill out the conference registration form, and email it as an attachment to Kenneth Roblee at kroblee@troy.edu. The conference fee is $35 per faculty participant and $15 per student participant. This may be paid by cash or check either in advance by mailing it to the address below or at the registration desk the day of the conference. INVITED TALK The invited speaker is Dr. Atif Abueida of The University of Dayton. Atif received his B.SC. in 1987 from UAE University. He worked as a high school teacher for 8 years. He received his M.S. from East Tennessee State University in 1996 and his Ph.D. from Auburn University in 2000. Atif has been a member of the faculty in the Department of Mathematics at UD since 2000. Atif’s research interests are in the areas of graph theory, design theory, and complex analysis. He has also conducted a summer workshop "Critical Thinking and Problem Solving with Discrete Mathematics", a Discrete Math Leadership Institute for K-8th Grade Teachers to work with teachers in the Dayton City area.
