She is also the author of Lightning in a Bottle, a program featuring photographs on CD-ROM used to prompt and guide student writing. She contributed the chapter, “The School Essay: Tracking Movement of the Mind” in Teaching the Neglected “R”: Rethinking Writing Instruction in Secondary Classrooms. Her most recent project is entitled Sparklers: High Scoring Test Essays and What They Teach Us. In addition, Gretchen is a much sought-after presenter for workshops and staff-development seminars across the United States.
