Troy University Student Government Association

Five leaders are chosen from the Trojan community each spring to lead the Troy University's Student Government Association. The student body elects these individuals to lead them, address their concerns, and implement the changes the student body deems necessary on campus. The members of the executive council devote countless hours to the welfare of the student body, striving to promote Trojan pride in all they do.


Tim ParrName: Tim Parr

Office: President

Hometown: Newton, AL

Major: Political Science

Classification: Junior

Why you came to Troy: I came to Troy because of its close proximity to home and also because my sister attended a few years before I did. I watched how much she enjoyed it here and knew that it was the place for me after a campus visit in high school.

Activities and Honors: Trojan Ambassador, Freshmen Forum, SGA Senate, Political Science Club, College Republicans, Chancellor's Honor Roll, Sigma Chi Fraternity Tribune, Editor, Historian

Career Ambitions: I plan to continue my education after my time in Troy by attending law school. It is my hope to practice law and eventually run for public office.

Words of Encouragement to Fellow Trojans: While you are at Troy, try to reach out to other students and broaden your horizons. Meet people that you would not usually meet and go outside of your comfort zone. Experiencing different ideas and beliefs and learning from them is one of the most important things that can be done in college.


Jonathan DavisName: Jonathan A. Davis

Office: Vice President of Legislative Affairs

Hometown: Montgomery, AL

Major: Broadcast Journalism

Classification: Junior

Why you came to Troy: I came to Troy University because I believed that my opportunity to learn and grow was limitless. From the small university atmosphere, to the personal interaction of the faculty, staff and administration; it drew me to love and take pride in Troy University.

Activities and Honors: Freshman Forum President, Executive Assistant to the SGA President, Senator for the College of Arts and Sciences, Alabama Collegiate Legislature, Troy Army ROTC, Alabama Army National Guard Paralegal Specialist

Career Ambitions: My career ambitions are to receive a Commission in the United States Army as a Judge Advocate in the Army JAG Corps. Upon retirement, I desire to contribute my time, experience, and passion, through public service.

Words of Encouragement to Fellow Trojans: It is believed that one of the greatest gifts given to man is the ability, and opportunity to give. Make this time at Troy University the most rewarding time of your life yet. Learn all you can now, so that in the future, you may be able to offer to the world, what you where given here at Troy University.


Staci DavisName: Staci Davis

Office: Vice President of Campus Activities

Hometown: Daphne, Alabama

Major: English

Classification: Senior

Why you came to Troy: I came to Troy because of the "small town" atmosphere...you never meet a stranger!

Activities and Honors: Alpha Lambda Delta, Trojan Ambassador, Mortor Board, Delta Epsilon Iota, IMAPCT Leader 2007, Leadership scholar, Phi Mu Sorority Recording Secretary, Phi Mu Sorority Sisterhood Development, Chancellor's Honor Roll.

Career Ambitions: In the future I want to work in the field of insurance, possibly becoming an agent.

Words of Encouragement to Fellow Trojans: Troy University prides itself on being "a future of opportunities". As a student at Troy you have many opportunities right at your fingertips. College is for many a once in a lifetime chance. Don't take it for granted, get involved, you'll find that the memories you make truly do last a lifetime!


Morgan Hooper

Major: Broadcast Journalism

Classification: Junior

Why you came to Troy: I came to TROY as a result of attending Girl’s State during high school. The campus is beautiful and the people were so genuine. No other school would be sufficient.

Activities and Honors: Freshman Forum member, Freshman Forum Director, Alpha Lambda Delta honor society, Christian Student Center: Public Relations Chair, Vice President, recipient of the Ruth award, Chi Omega sorority: New Member Educator, Panhellenic Delegate, model initiate, one of the four 2008 Troy University Most Outstanding Woman of the Year, Troy University Millennium scholar

Career Ambitions: After graduating from TROY I hope to receive a Masters in Public Relations and be either a public relations specialist or lobby for a corporation.

Words of Encouragement to Fellow Trojans: These are truly the best years of your life. Spend them doing things you enjoy doing. Finding a balance between class and extra curricular activities is very rewarding. TROY offers more than 140 student organizations-GET STARTED!


Judson VaughanName: Judson Vaughan

Hometown: Elba, AL

Major: Broadcast Journalism w/ a Contract in Public Relations

Classification: Junior

Why you came to Troy: I had been coming to Troy for years before actually decided to attend. I thought it was too small for me, but boy was I wrong. When I sat there and thought about it, I realized that it gave me everything I wanted and needed on top of soon to be lifetime memories.

Activities and Honors: 2006 Freshman Forum Man of the Year, 2007 Student Government Association Senator At-Large, 2007 Trojan Ambassador, 2007 IMPACT Leader, 2008 IMPACT Student Director, and FarmHouse Fraternity

Career Ambitions: For years now, my lifelong goal has been to be in the music business. It is where my passion is, and what keeps me motivated. If that dream does not happen, I would hope to turn my attention to the political realm.

Words of Encouragement to Fellow Trojans: The best way to get the COMPLETE Troy University Experience is to get involved. The possibilities are unlimited when you put yourself out there, and make a difference. Your time here goes by way to fast, so please make the best of it….and GO TROJANS!!!


William FilmoreName: William Filmore

Major: Business Management with a Minor in Leadership

Classification: Sophomore

Why you came to Troy: If it wasn’t for Troy, I wouldn’t be here today. My parents met at Troy. I have been a Trojan from birth!

Activities and Honors: Freshman Forum Member 2007, Alpha Tau Omega Recruitment Chair, Delta Sigma Pi: Professional Business Fraternity, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Chancellor’s List, Excellence in Leadership Scholarship.

Career Ambitions: Graduate from Troy and hopefully continue my studies. Then wherever the Lord leads me.

Words of Encouragement to Fellow Trojans: Get involved and your experience at Troy will be great. Make friends, have fun, and don’t forget to be a student.


Laura RotchName:Laura M. Rotch

Hometown: Jackson, AL

Major: Nursing

Classification: Sophomore

Why you came to Troy: After attending the Hugh O’ Brian Youth Leadership Conference and Alabama Girls’ State here at Troy University, I knew that this campus was the perfect place for me to continue my education and become an effective leader.

Activities and Honors: Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Chancellor’s Scholar, Trojan Ambassador, Troy University’s Outstanding Freshman of the Year 2007-2008, Freshman Forum Member 2007-2008, Miss Freshman Forum, G.A.M.M.A., Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity, AΓΔ VP Operations

Career Ambitions: My career aspiration is to one day be employed by a major hospital as a Nurse Anesthetist, while being an inspiration to the lives of others through my daily life.

Words of Encouragement to Fellow Trojans: While at Troy, I encourage everyone to take full advantage of all that this campus has to offer, and to jump on every opportunity to serve others. You will be amazed at the doors that will open and the lives that will be influenced by you getting involved. Most importantly, remember that you only have four quick years at Troy University; therefore make the BEST out of each and every moment, whether it is with friends, class assignments, or within an organization!
